Meet Your Coach
Hi, I'm Warren.
Runner. Coach. Mountain athlete.
I've spent more than a decade coaching runners while continuing to train, race and challenge myself as an athlete. From fast road running to mountain rounds, ultra-distance racing and competing across Europe, my coaching is shaped by both knowledge and first-hand experience.
My Running Story
Runner. Coach. Mountains.
Running is still a huge part of who I am.
From road racing to long days in the mountains, I'm still training, competing and exploring through running.
My Running Story
I'm still a runner as well as a coach.
Running has taken me from road races to some of the biggest endurance challenges in the British mountains. I've raced across the UK, Europe and Scandinavia, competed over everything from 10K to ultra distance, and spent countless hours training in the mountains.
I've experienced the process from both sides: building speed, preparing for races, managing high training loads, developing endurance and learning how important recovery, strength and consistency become when the goals get bigger.
I continue to train and compete today. That matters to me as a coach because the principles I use with athletes aren't simply theoretical — they're principles I continue to apply, question and experience in my own running.

Selected Running Achievements
From road speed to mountain endurance.
My own running has always been varied. I enjoy the speed and structure of road running just as much as the challenge, uncertainty and endurance required in the mountains.

Completed the classic Paddy Buckley Round through the mountains of Eryri.
2021
Bob Graham Round
21:40
Completed the iconic Lake District mountain round in 21 hours and 40 minutes.

Experience competing internationally, including age-category prizes, while continuing to race and pursue new challenges.

Mountain Endurance
Learning through experience.
Completing the Paddy Buckley Round in 2019 and the Bob Graham Round in 21 hours 40 minutes in 2021 required much more than simply being able to run for a long time.
Long mountain challenges demand durability, appropriate pacing, fuelling, strength, preparation and the ability to keep moving effectively as fatigue accumulates.
Those experiences have helped shape how I approach athletes preparing for trail races, ultras and other long endurance events. Training has to prepare you for the demands of the challenge, not simply accumulate miles.
Still Competing
Coaching hasn't stopped me being an athlete.
In 2023 I won Ultra Trail Wales 50, setting a new course record. I've also competed throughout Europe and Scandinavia, achieving age-category prizes along the way.
I still enjoy setting my own goals, preparing for events and testing myself in competition. It keeps me connected with the reality of training — the good sessions, difficult weeks, fatigue, recovery, nerves and satisfaction that come with preparing for something that matters to you.
That perspective is important when I'm working with another runner. A training programme exists in the real world, alongside work, family, recovery and everything else life brings.

From Runner To Coach
More than ten years of coaching runners.
I've spent more than a decade coaching runners with a huge variety of goals — from improving shorter-distance performance through to marathons, trail races, ultras and demanding endurance challenges.
My own experience helps me understand many of the demands an athlete faces, but good coaching is never about simply giving somebody the training that worked for me.
Every runner brings a different training history, lifestyle, level of experience and goal. My job is to understand the individual and build training around them.

My Coaching Philosophy
Coaching should explain the why, not just prescribe the what.
I want the runners I work with to understand their training. Knowing why a session is there, what adaptation we're looking for and how recovery fits into the process helps create better, more independent athletes.
Individual
Training built around the athlete rather than forcing the athlete around a generic plan.
Evidence-Informed
Using established training principles and current understanding while keeping the programme practical.
Adaptive
Training is not static. Progress, recovery, lifestyle and feedback all influence what comes next.
Whole Athlete
Running, strength, recovery, nutrition and everyday life all contribute to the bigger performance picture.
Knowledge & Development
Experience backed by continued learning.
Coaching continues to evolve, and ongoing learning is an important part of how I work. Alongside my formal qualifications, I regularly undertake continued professional development across running performance, strength and conditioning, nutrition and endurance training.
